Galvanizing is done to protection the
steel of iron from corrosion. In galvanizing process the steel is coated with zinc.
The galvanizing of steel is achieved by different methods. Some of these
methods are discussed below
Hot
dip method
In the hot dip galvanizing, the steel or
iron is dipped into the molten zinc. The surface of the galvanizing material is
thoroughly cleaned before dipping. This process gives thick coating of zinc on
the steel. Later this coating freezes into crystal pattern known as spangle.
However, the negative side of this
process is that a thick multilayered coating is formed between steel surface
and inner layer of zinc coating. These
layers can peel or flake of, when the iron or steel is bent.
Electro
galvanizing method -
The second process is eletrogalvanising.
Here, the immersion of the steel and iron in the electrolyte gives coating of
pure zinc on the steel or iron. The electrolyte is solution of zinc sulfate or cyanide.
The major benefit of this type of coating is that the thickness of the coating
can be controlled accurately.
The flip side of this process of
galvanizing is that the thick coating cannot be taken through this method.
Sheradizing
Sheradizing method GI Sheet Dealers
in Delhi involves putting cleaned steel or iron in the
enclosure, where metallic zinc dust surrounds the steel and iron. Then the material is heated to produce the
zinc alloy coating. The coating in this method confirms to the configuration of
the element. But this method can be used only for small objects.
Spraying
method
Spraying method is very simple method in
which spray of fine molten zinc is applied on the steel or iron. The coating is
then heated to produce the galvanized steel or iron. The benefit of this method
is that the coating produced is very fine and does not peel or come off. And
also it is less brittle. But it also have its negative points, the coating
sometimes becomes porous. The pores are then filled with corrosive materials.
Painting
method
The painting method involves applying
zinc dust pigment on the surface of steel or iron to galvanize them. But this
method is not an effective method to produce galvanized steel. The painting can
easily come off and it comes with primer, which exposes the steel completely.
Also with well painted steel, it is not possible to differentiate between a
zinc and galvanized steel.
The galvanized GP Sheets
Suppliers in Delhi steel is used widely in homes and commercial
building as window and door hoods. It is also used as roof sheets.
